SENIORS: If your CAP Advisor didn't get to meet with you and your parents!- What should you be doing?

We will be scheduling appointments again in August for parents and students who didn't get to meet with your CAP Advisor to go over your last year of high school and your transition to college!

You are finally a Senior in high school this year! This brings a lot of responsibility and pressures. Here are a few tips to decrease anxiety and to make a smooth transition into college:

*You should be studying for your SAT/ ACT over the Summer. If you can, try to enroll into a Prep course! If not, please make sure you study for these tests.
*You must sign up to take the SAT/ ACT in September and October 2010. (If you are eligible for the Free/ Reduced lunch program, you get two waivers for each of these tests).
*Actively search for admissions requirements (deadlines, SAT/ ACT scores, GPA, etc.) to the universities you wish to apply. We expect our Seniors to apply to a minimum of 5 universities each. Please make sure your choices are realistic and compatible with your particular situation.
*Write admissions essays over the Summer. When you get back in August, you should share these with English professors for their input and feedback.
*Work on your Community Service Project. 25 hrs are required for graduation. 75 hrs are required for Florida Bright Futures (FAS). This project is due (25 hrs) by 12/15/2010. Don't delay!
*Make sure you schedule an appointment with Mrs. Escobar to meet with you and your parents as of August 23 through September 28, 2010 only!
Have a great Summer and see you upon your return!
